HUD Mortgagee Letter 2006-13 - (May 25, 2006)

Federal Housing Administration (FHA) approved mortgagees that seek FHA mortgage
insurance on loans secured by single family houses, on which downpayment assistance has been provided to the borrower in the form of gifts, are required to determine that the gifts are from sources acceptable to FHA.

To view HUD approved Downpayment Assitance Providers, follow these instructions.

1. Go to www.irs.gov
2. Click on 'Charities and Non-Profits' in the grey bar going across the top of the page just under the Internal Revenue Service.
3. Click on 'Search for Charities' next to the second bullet point on the left hand side of the page.
4. Almost in the center of the page you need to click on 'Search Now'.
5. Click on 'H' from the search list for Home Downpayment Gift Foundation.
